A newly renovated hotel in Hyderabad, India, is relying on Keywest Technology Media POD media players to drive readerboards located in the lobby used to keep guest informed of meeting rooms, schedules and activities. Located in the south-central portion of the country, Hyderabad is the capital of the Andhra Pradesh state and home to major pharmaceutical and IT companies. The Keywest Technology Media PODs help to keep business travelers informed of conference times and locations on the hotel property as well as the amenities the hotel offers. To minimize laborious data entry, the Media PODs are networked to the hotel’s server, which runs MICROS Systems’ Opera property management software. The Media PODs extract relevant data about meeting schedules and hotel activities for automatic display on the readerboards in the lobby. As the hotel’s operations and convention managers update facility bookings, the Media PODs collect the appropriate data and automatically update playback schedules to reflect the changes. In effect, the Media PODs are transparent to hotel managers, taking their cue from the Opera software, and only requiring attention when the hotel wishes to create or customize graphics for the readerboards.
The Media PODs also easily accommodate the Marriott’s decision to use the readerboards in both landscape and portrait orientations by re-oriented text and graphics appropriately.
