Keywest Technology introduces X-WARP option for MediaXtreme
With the Lenexa, Kan., -based company’s new X-WARP software option, MediaXtreme can compensate for geometric distortions to wrap projected images around pillars and onto globes.
LAS VEGAS, (April 24)—Keywest Technology today unveiled its X-WARP (Extremely Wide-Area-Raster-Positioning) geometric correction software option for its popular MediaXtreme media server.
X-WARP allows MediaXtreme users to correct geometric distortions so images perfectly match the three-dimensional shape upon which they are being projected without having to adjust the projector that’s in use. When multiple projectors are in use, X-WARP provides an easy, time-saving method to perfectly align the images from each projector.
“X-WARP represents an important breakthrough for retailers or anyone else looking to attract the attention of customers with a unique, eye-grabbing use of projectors,” said Keywest Technology president Nick Nichols.
“For example, with X-WARP users can correct geometrical distortions caused by projecting a flat image onto a curved surface. That ability would allow them to wrap a projected image around column or pillar,” he said. “Using two projectors, they could even wrap an image 360 degrees around the pillar, or using four cover a globe. X-WARP allows them to correct geometric distortions so they could even project a human face onto a mannequin and make the features match up flawlessly.”
X-WARP combines precise algorithms with simple-to-use controls to deliver distortion-free 3-D wraps. When used on a flat panel display, the same software can create appealing 3-D image effects.
