James George Collins, a
long-time friend and business associate of Keywest Technology, died this week
in Wichita, KS
Lenexa, KS (Mar.
16, 2008) Long-time friend and business associate with Keywest Technology James
George Collins II (Jim), age 55, died May 19, the victim of a botched armed
robbery in Wichita, KS.
Collins is survived by his wife Jane, son
James and daughter Taylor. Collins was a principal partner in DSX Media in Wichita, a division of
Keywest Technology focused on the production of content for digital signage
display.
Among Collins’ many business successes is
advancing from a middle management position to CEO of an independent oil and
gas exploration company. In that capacity, he built the 75- year-old business
from a small independent to a medium-large independent and sold the company.
Other successful entrepreneurial endeavors include starting, building and
ultimately selling an adventure travel business and an aircraft interior
manufacturing company.
“Jim was a true friend and will be missed
deeply,” said Keywest Technology president Nick Nichols. “On a personal level,
his gift of gab, sense of humor and deep generosity made him a gem in his
community of Wichita.
As a business partner in DSX Media, Jim tenaciously pursued solving the digital
signage content needs of customers.”
Collins took great interest in his daughter’s
and son’s activities as they were growing up. He took up horseback riding to
accompany his daughter on rides as she pursued her equestrian interests. He
also became a dedicated fan of the Wichita
Collegiate High
School football team where his son played
football.
Hundreds of friends and associates visited
the memorial service held for Collins May 15. Memorial contributions may be made to Wichita Montessori School Future
