Our most popular MediaZone add-on is the simplest way to source data from text files or database software applications like Excel and Access. 

The key to accessing remote data easily and reliably is in the power of the software. You do not need any additional software training to use our Data Reader (MX-DA) software option. We have programmed our PC Data Reader with all of the features needed to make PC data acquisition as simple and easy as possible.

Additionally, our PC data reader software gives you the ability to source text data automatically from any network location using the powerful variable macro feature of our MediaCreator CG. This is the perfect way to update redundant "billboard" information such as menus, class schedules, call center logging or any event-driven data.

The user-defined variables are placed on the MediaCreator page by a mouse click. Once placed, the variable takes on the size, color, shape, and font style that has previously been selected. It can be moved to any location on the page, and may even be transparent. The variable may also be placed in a crawl for scheduling independent of the page schedule. At this point, the variable becomes it’s own “zone”, in which you may build color boxes, graphics, and borders around it. Once the page is set up, it simply maintains itself.

MediaCreator allows you to associate user variables with common database programs like Access and Excel, or you may associate variables with text editors such as Note Pad or Word.

The magic to the user-defined variables occurs in our network player, the MediaXtreme. Once the variable is associated to a program that can be accessed over a network, the MediaXtreme has intelligent software that will ‘fetch’ the data glitch-free for assimilation into your digital signage or TV channel. The automation occurs because the PC Data Reader option includes the ability to schedule the date and time of data transfer and manages the path to the stored date.

CDA Meets Special Needs

No matter where your data exists, our MediaXtreme MX-CDA custom data acquisition software can reliably find, import, convert and display text or graphic data via custom variables.

Sometimes data is ‘locked’ into source code or scripts, or just in an inconvenient form for easy retrieval. If you need data parsing from HTML or other web languages, extraction from encoded sources, or embedded data scripts, MX-CDA is a major enhancement over our standard data acquisition software.

On the creation side, the placement on the CG page of custom variables is as simple as one click, just as described in our standard data acquisition software. One of the differences is that you have no limit on how many variables you may have, and most significantly, each variable may represent special data macros that do all the hard work of parsing data from the various sources. Scheduling of the data acquisition occurs exactly as with our standard software, making it totally automated.
