Marquee Motorcars, an independent specialty dealership in Wichita, KS, turned to Keywest Technology and the MediaXtreme media server when owner Jim Collins decided to expand his business beyond classic cars.

Specializing in what it describes as a “Concierge Buying Service,” Marquee Motorcars locates previously owned sports and luxury cars for high profile individuals, business executives, athletes and entertainers. Clients contract the company via phone or the Web and specify what they’re looking for. Collins and his associates do the rest.

While many clients never step foot in the Marquee Motorcars building, those who do are immersed in an architecturally stunning venue. The spacious, antique brick building is so upscale, Collins decided to rent it out wedding receptions, business meetings and parties.

Part of the unique décor are two plasma displays, one 50-inch and one 42-inch panel, each of which do double duty. During parties and other gatherings, the displays show video and stills of the host, guests and honorees; during regular business hours they display ads for the dealership and its cars.

Control, scheduling and playback are done with the Keywest Technology MediaXtreme media server. Under a special business arrangement with Keywest Technology, Collins relies on the Lenexa, KS, -based company to control and monitor playback on the displays from its offices 200 miles away.

Together, the MediaXtreme media server and plasma displays add a special dimension to Marquee Motorcars that helps to make its venue leasing as distinctive as its independent specialty dealership business.
