Randy_Dean_Home_BuildersA Wichita-area homebuilder is using a hybrid implementation of Keywest Technology’s MediaXtreme to help customers find the information they want.

For about the past year, Randy Dean Construction in Wichita, KS, has used a unique implementation of the Keywest Technology MediaXtreme media server to market its model homes, designs and inventory more effectively to prospective home buyers.

Thanks to a unique implementation of the MediaXtreme and a touch-screen sensor interface from ELO home buyers and realtors can interact with a 32in LCD flat panel monitor to take full 360-degree virtual tours of homes, access and print floor plans, examine the company’s home inventory and access the builder’s Web site.

Out-of-home media specialist DSX Media in Wichita delivered to the home builder a complete, turnkey interactive digital signage implementation that included all creative content, interactive branching, digital signage hardware and software, touch-screen controller and flat panel sign. DSX Media’s involvement didn’t stop there, however. DSX Media also sold video advertising to aligned businesses, like mortgage bankers and title companies, that paid for the interactive system in less than a year.

The system is a hybrid digital signage implementation that skillfully marries playlist management and video/audio playback of a digital signage system with the interactivity of a digital kiosk. The digital sign cycles through a loop of video that includes a three-minute commercial for Randy Dean Construction followed by 30 second commercials for paid advertising until a prospective home buyer touches the screen.

With that touch, the system shifts into kiosk mode so buyers can interactively retrieve the information they are seeking. In effect, it becomes a virtual sales agent to answer questions while real, on-duty sales people are occupied with other potential buyers.

Since its implementation the system has helped Randy Dean Construction’s sales agents to become more productive and given potential home buyers fast, fun way to get the answers they want about the home of their dreams.
